Top 40 Timeline With Big DaddyJoin Russ Horton every evening at 0100 UTC (9pm EDT) as we take a time trip back to one of the golden years of Top 40 radio!

Says Russ:

I’ve been in the radio business since 1975 when I scored my first gig at Canada’s Country Giant CFGM in Toronto at the age of 15 setting up remotes vacuuming the lobby and grabbing coffees for the brass.

I’ve worked at many radio stations in and around Toronto and Southern Ontario over the years. I take most pride in being with FM108 for many years, it was a Giant Oldies station in Canada under the leadership of Program Director Norman “B” I was the music director.

Broadcast in Antigua and have been involved in starting up and running many on-line radio stations since the late 1990’s. In the radio business when you collect broadcast recordings you are called an “air-check collector” but today, I consider myself a radio historian.

I grew up on both sides of the Atlantic and idolized Tony Prince, Dave Lee Travis, and Emperor Rosko – and NEVER ever dreamed I’d be working along side them, and other Radio Gods from around the world on United DJ’s!

Listening to Toronto radio legends, my North American idols via my airchecks. I was influenced by Wolfman Jack, Casey Kasem, Dan Ingram, Jack Armstrong, Scott Carpenter, and “Brother” Bill Gable. It’s a thrill for me to work with the BEST in the world and now the Morning Show on fm108.ca Canada’s Oldies Station bringing back many of the announcers from the opriginal station 40 years ago.
